How can I teach discipline-specific RDM?

A handbook for multipliers and lecturers who wish to train agricultural researchers and Ph.D. students

Training researchers in research data management (RDM) is an important step toward supporting the cultural shift toward a interconnected landscape of agricultural research data. At the same time, targeted training plays a key role in supporting researchers in their day-to-day work with research data.

Targeted training courses are based on researchers’ actual day-to-day work and, in addition to generic RDM basics, primarily cover discipline-specific content. Particular emphasis is placed on practical (case) examples.

With this handbook, we aim to provide everyone involved in this important work - whether data stewards, RDM staff, or agricultural science lecturers - with a practical guide on how to design targeted training courses with a manageable workload.

To that end, we have created a Step-by-Step Guide to assist with the conception, preparation, and conducting of agriculture-specific FDM training courses using our modular training materials. In addition, this handbook includes some OERs related to specific FAIRagro training examples, as well as a selection of additional learning and teaching materials that may be relevant to the agricultural research community.
